The Renowned Musician Encourages Public Help to Get Palestinian Solidarity Lullaby to UK Christmas No 1.

A campaign is aiming to propel a traditional song from Palestine to the top of the UK charts. The project hopes to deliver assistance to Gaza's residents while also spotlighting Palestinian culture and creativity.

An Opportunity for Unity and an "Unlikely Coup"

Musician and artist Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a moment to show solidarity with Palestinians this festive season. He acknowledged the potential for an unlikely festive coup.

“It would be fantastic if that happened, yes,” he said. “I’m not gonna be completely disappointed if it doesn’t, holiday tracks are a category of their own.”

Powerful Theme of Self-Determination

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the reimagining of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's defiant core message.

“The song holds a very special place for a lot of people,” Barghouti explained. “It’s basically saying that I would choose to perish with honor than exist without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we seek to lead a life of dignity that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”

Recording Origins and Featured Artists

The track was produced following a solidarity show held in the autumn. First conceived to be captured during the live event, the rendition was cut from the show due to scheduling overruns.

The notable list of artists featured on Lullaby includes a selection of well-known figures from the music world. All were part of the September show, which reportedly raised a substantial amount for humanitarian aid.

Production and Release

Lullaby was crafted by a team of talented individuals. The song features a fusion of the traditional Arabic lyrics with contemporary English verses.

The group managing the campaign have emphasized that their goal is to raise as much as possible for a charitable pot. These proceeds will be channeled to Palestinian causes through an non-profit partner.

“We haven't set a specific target,” a representative said. “We will pursue the maximum achievable. Naturally, the more the merrier. All proceeds are directed out to those in need in Gaza.”

The reality in the area was noted for its profound destruction, with a vast majority of buildings described as destroyed or damaged.

“Given that reality, a handful of millions won't make an enormous impact. But I think the significant factor is first of all raising awareness for this issue and proving the human dimension of the story.”

The track is scheduled for release on Friday. Additionally, a video of the charity concert will be made accessible to view on a digital service from mid-December.
