Soccer Expert Chris Sutton Faces Off Against Singer Murs in Premier League Predictions
The Gunners' ten-match winning run came to an end by the Black Cats before the international break, but will the Premier League frontrunners recover against local foes Spurs this weekend?
"{I believe like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this match," remarked football expert Chris Sutton.
"Frank will attempt to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating best this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's team typically still find a way to win."
Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League fixtures this term, versus artificial intelligence, readers and a variety of guests.
In week 12, he faces performer Olly Murs, who is a United fan.
Murs' new record, Knees Up, is out on Friday.
Football and Family Experiences
Olly is a skilled footballer as well as a accomplished artist and has been a star of several Soccer Aid games over time - but he is not planning a serious return as a player.
"{I recently played in a benefit game the other night for a friend of mine," he explained. "My team was trailing 3-1 when I came off in the 60th minute, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you want!
"I still love football, but I injured my knee a few years ago and it still isn't where I want it to be. I wish I could play more but the unpredictability of the sport means it's too risky for me in my profession to do it properly again.
"Plus I am forty-one now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am gearing up for the moment that my child or son chooses to play instead."
The singer and his spouse his partner have a young family, their daughter and their son, and he is prepared to emulate his dad by taking on the role of their coach.
"I won't push football on our children but I've already told Amelia that if they happen to get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will likely be coaching their Saturday soccer side," he added.
"I watched my relatives play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly was involved with a football club for a while too.
"My father coached with us when I was a child, which is likely where I inherited it. He managed our side for several seasons and had great fun with it. That might be the next step for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"
Premier League Forecasts
Weekend, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
The Blues may have to be patient for their star's comeback from fitness issues but their attack is now more potent with Pedro and Liam Delap both back fit.
I still think this game will be quite tight, however. The Clarets are disciplined and their sole home losses so far have been against the Reds and Arsenal.
It smells of a 1-1 draw to me, but I am actually going to choose the London side to win narrowly for what would be their third consecutive league win in a row.
The expert's prediction: 1-2
Olly's pick: The Blues will be too strong. 1-3
Artificial intelligence's prediction: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
Bournemouth have lost their past two games - albeit both of them were on the road - but they got absolutely spanked by Villa last time out which surprised me.
On the other hand, West Ham secured two in a row before the international break and, although both of those games were at home, they appear strong again.
West Ham's only away win this campaign came at Forest in August, when their manager Nuno Espirito Santo was still Forest manager.
So, what on earth do I go with here - will it be the Hammers extending their streak under their manager, or Bournemouth responding?
I will choose Bournemouth, because I think what occurred against Aston Villa was a blip.
Sutton's forecast: 2-0
The guest's outlook: The home team are performing strongly but West Ham have improved under their boss. 2-2
The algorithm's pick: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Bees were considered one of the frontrunners for the drop before the campaign started, but they have surprised a several people under their manager and are in good form with three wins in their last four games.
A family member told me to get Brentford forward Thiago in my Fantasy Football team a few weeks ago and, guess what, I ignored the advice.
Thiago will likely find the net again on the weekend but I am still not going to pick him or support the away side at Brighton's ground.
The Bees have not had much fortune on the road this term, and the Seagulls are consistently strong at their stadium. The visitors will try to hit them on the counter-attack but I think the home manager's team carry much more of a threat.
The analyst's prediction: 2-1
Olly's view: This could be one of those games where you expect there is going to be a lot of goals but it in reality proves to be quite tight. 1-1
AI's outcome: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
It is a huge fixture for the Cottagers, who have suffered defeat in five of their last six games.
They have got lots of quality in their team but it nonetheless seems like they could be sucked into a relegation fight.
Regarding the Black Cats, indeed they are the surprise package of the top flight campaign so far.
Their performance in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal last time out was excellent. We've not witnessed anyone else rough up the North London side like that this season, and Sunderland were fully competitive for them.
The sensible thing to do to back the Black Cats here, because they are clearly capable of roughing Fulham up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they beat Chelsea at the close of last month.
However I am not choose that. Instead, I really need to carry on going against Sunderland with my forecasts. I am claiming a lot of credit for their positive results because they clearly enjoy to defy my predictions.
Considering the home side's home form, the sole team they have lost to is Arsenal. Marco Silva's side will be absolutely eager for a positive result, so I am going to predict they will secure three points.
The expert's prediction: 1-0
The guest's prediction: I'm aware Sunderland are performing strongly and additionally that Fulham are on a poor streak... but Fulham have still been respectable at home this season. 2-0
The algorithm's outlook: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
This is a tough fixture to predict. The Reds have suffered seven of their last ten games in every tournament, but could they be one of the sides who benefit from the {international break|
