Recent Details Surface Regarding the Discovery of Rob and Michele Singer Reiner's Bodies
Fresh particulars have surfaced about the tragic demises of esteemed film director Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were found at their Los Angeles home residence on Sunday.
A Discovery
According to a report quoting a confidential source, a therapist scheduled for an session was the first to notice something was wrong after not being able to enter the home. The practitioner then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives in the vicinity.
When she went into the residence, Romy discovered her father's body. Reports state she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. Her roommate who had gone with her promptly called 911. Afterward, paramedics discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Criminal Developments
Law enforcement have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of murder in the first degree, including the use of a dangerous weapon, said to be a knife. He is presently in custody without bail.
Disputed Reports
The person close to the family challenged several earlier details. The source indicated that while Romy Reiner told first responders that her brother Nick lived in a guesthouse on the property, she did not name him as a potential suspect at that juncture.
Additionally disputed circulated notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "concerned" about Nick's behavior in recent weeks. Instead the family was "accustomed to working through [Nick's] problems together."
This correction applies to descriptions of reportedly "erratic" behavior by Nick at a party thrown by Conan O'Brien on the night before the bodies were found. While the source said they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they asserted that claims of a "major confrontation" between the two were inaccurate.
Ongoing Inquiry Timeline
According to law enforcement sources, the coroner had not yet established at that point whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Some accounts indicated the state of their bodies pointed to they had been deceased for a period of time.
Nick Reiner was arrested at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, some 15 miles from the residence. He was due to appear in court on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, indicated his client had a medical issue and would not appear until Wednesday at the earliest.
