Ex- Physician Faces Assault Charges Involving 38 Patients
Legal authorities have stated that a ex- doctor now faces charges for carrying out sexual assaults against thirty-eight victims who were patients.
The Serious Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous acts of sexual assault – comprising some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 and 2021.
One deputy chief CPS official said, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a thorough and intricate investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to establish that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Investigation
The charges follow what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.
List of Offences
Prosecutors said the 45 charges comprise:
- 15 counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
