Beloved Performer The actor Pat Finn, Recognized For Parts in Friends and The Middle, Has Died at 60 Years Old.
US actor Pat Finn, who appeared in iconic television series like Friends, Seinfeld and "The Middle", has passed away at 60 years old.
The comedic improv actor succumbed at his home in LA on Monday after undergoing treatment for cancer from 2022 onward, per reports.
"He never met a stranger - only friends he hadn't encountered," his family shared in a message.
They continued that he had "embraced life completely - with joy and exuberance".
A Prolific TV Career
His debut TV appearance was on the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he portrayed the lead character's sibling.
He subsequently landed a repeating character on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.
He played the part of the character Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in the late 90s, playing a host who would assign tedious tasks to his guests.
Throughout the 90s and 2000s, he had guest spots on a variety of well-known programs, including:
- "King of Queens"
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- House, M.D.
Finn was perhaps best known for playing the character Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight series from 2011 to 2018.
His film credits include "It's Complicated" and "Santa Paws 2".
Off-Screen Life
Away from his acting parts, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and also taught at the Colorado university, where he was a faculty member.
He was a member of a six-member improv team named Beer Shark Mice.
"Finn guided, supported, and advised countless students during his career and it would be difficult to find someone who has a bad thing to say about him," his relatives stated.
In a tribute, colleague and actor Richard Kind said there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, grounded individual you could encounter".
"Always positive, helping you be funnier and better. A wonderful father and man," Kind wrote online.
The actor is survived by his wife Donna, three children, and his parents and siblings.
